Overview
A machine press that trains the quadriceps, glutes and hamstrings with your back supported. It lets you train your legs hard without balancing a barbell.
How to do it
Sit in the machine with your back and hips flat against the pad.
Place your feet shoulder width apart in the middle of the platform.
Press the platform up and release the safety handles.
Lower the platform by bending your knees toward your chest under control.
Stop before your hips start to lift off the seat.
Press through your whole foot until your legs are almost straight.
Tips
- Place your feet higher for more glutes and lower for more quadriceps.
- Keep your knees in line with your toes.
- Lock the safety handles before getting out of the machine.
Common mistakes
- Locking your knees hard at the top of each rep.
- Lowering so far that your lower back rounds off the pad.
- Pushing through your toes and letting your heels lift.
