Overview

A machine-guided overhead press that trains the shoulders and triceps. The fixed path lets you push hard without balancing the weight.

How to do it

  1. Adjust the seat so the handles start at about shoulder height.

  2. Sit with your back flat against the pad and your feet planted.

  3. Grip the handles with your wrists straight.

  4. Press the handles up until your arms are almost straight.

  5. Lower slowly back to shoulder height.

Tips

  • Keep your head against the pad and look forward.
  • Breathe out as you press.

Common mistakes

  • Arching your back off the pad.
  • Setting the seat too low, which forces an uncomfortably deep start.
  • Locking your elbows hard at the top.
