Equipment
Machine

Overview

A calf raise performed seated with your knees bent. It puts extra focus on the soleus, the deeper calf muscle.

How to do it

  1. Sit on the machine and place the balls of your feet on the platform.

  2. Position the knee pad snugly on your lower thighs.

  3. Lift the weight slightly and release the safety lever.

  4. Lower your heels slowly as far as you can.

  5. Push up onto the balls of your feet as high as possible.

  6. Pause at the top, then lower under control.

Tips

  • Prioritise a full range of motion over more weight.
  • Keep your feet pointing straight ahead.

Common mistakes

  • Bouncing at the bottom of each rep.
  • Using your hands to push the knee pad up.
  • Doing short partial reps.
