Equipment
Cable

Overview

A single-arm lateral raise with a low cable that targets the side deltoids. The cable keeps tension on the shoulder even at the bottom.

How to do it

  1. Set the pulley at its lowest position and attach a handle.

  2. Stand side-on to the machine and grab the handle with your far hand.

  3. Let the cable cross in front of your body with your elbow slightly bent.

  4. Raise your arm out to the side until it is about parallel to the floor.

  5. Lower slowly under control, then switch sides after the set.

Tips

  • Hold the machine with your free hand for stability.
  • Lead with your elbow and keep your wrist relaxed.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning away from the machine to swing the weight.
  • Shrugging your shoulder up as you lift.
  • Going too heavy and losing control on the way down.
